My grandfather is a truly remarkable man which I have been fortunate to share many years with. He has a big heart and a strong passion for knowledge, love, and life. My fondest memories of Grandpa are all the trips and traveling we did together. When I was younger, he introduced me to the wild of Wyoming. It was quite different from home in California, with coyotes in the back forty, great fishing and hiking, the pups, fossil excavating, and not so great miracle whip sandwiches. It was a nice change of pace and a beautiful place where we shared new experiences. We also toured around Utah and of course to our favorite place, Cabo San Lucas. The family reunions at our "second home" in Mexico were thoroughly enjoyed by all. Also, Grandpa would come visit us in California on the holidays or on work travels, and always brought good cheer and stories with him. Grandpa is one of a kind. I admire his intelligence, work ethic, spirit, and values. He has an irrepressible spirit and a genuine love for all his family. He is a true innovator with the ability to devise complex new systems through knowledge and passion. He has made a mark in history and is a true inspiration to his family. Although he remained an introvert, I have memories of his moments when he would tell stories with a big grin and a loveable laugh. As a kid, I always marveled at his office in Wyoming and his intriguing chats about his work. I would be fortunate to have just a taste of his brilliance. One thing that Grandpa has told me that has remained today is to strive for excellence, especially at this young age. As I grow and progress in work and education, I have always heard his words in the back of my mind. He made it clear to me that an admirable education and a bright future are within my reach, and it is my choices in life that will bring me there. In my heart I know my grandfather has lived a long and beautiful life, full of wonderful experiences with his family and friends. I would like to celebrate his life in the most positive light and take a page from his book for mine. He will continue to inspire me. I love you Grandpa. Love, Your Granddaughter
